Circulation Procedures
Checkout
Bring items to be checked out to the Circulation Counter. A Trinity ID card is required or a picture ID may be substituted. Fines greater than $3.00 must be paid before you can check out any more material.
Return
Items are to be returned on or before the due date to the Return Books slot in the front counter. An outside return slot is available at the South side of the main entrance. This return can only be used when the library is closed.
Renewals
Items may be renewed unless someone has placed a hold on the item. Renewals are placed through your patron record in TrinCat. Renewals are calculated from the original due date, not the date the renewal was requested. If you have any problems, please call the Circulation Supervisor at 847.317.4002.
Searches
If you cannot locate a book or periodical when TrinCat indicates that it is on the shelf, please fill out a search form at the Circulation Counter. Library staff will search for the item and notify you when the item is located.
Overdue Fines
Patrons are expected to return items before the library closes on the date the item is due. Fines are calculated as follows:
-
Books and Media: 25 ¢ per day
-
ILL (Interlibrary Loan): 25¢ per day
-
There is a maximum of $10.00 fine per item.
Lost Item Fees
Patrons are responsible for materials they have checked out. When an item is 60 days overdue it is considered Lost. Lost items are billed to your student account on the following scale:
-
Cost of item plus $15 processing fee for items still in print
-
$100.00 fee per item for which a replacement cannot be found
-
Replacement of a TIU cassette: $10.00
